14 years as a certified Personal Trainier - REPs registered and registered nurse; I can help you start and keep exercising.  I work through my gym in Ngaio.  I have been a trainer at the Les Mills Gyms in Wellington for 14 years  As a Life Coach I will encourage, motivate and support you to create strategies to achieve your goals and have fun on the way. 

My clients range from lifestyle clients, weight loss candiates, menopause, pre/post-cancer and pre/post surgery patients to sports people (golf, tennis, netball, soccer, rugby etc.), adults and teenagers.

• Teach you the correct technique so that the exercise you do is safe and eff ective.
• Make sure you are getting the most out of every session so that your workouts are extremely time efficient.
• Keep you accountable and on track; especially important on those days you find it tough!
• Change your programme regularly to keep you moving forwards and constantly design innovative and interesting
exercises that keep you fresh and challenged.

• Help you work through emotional issues around exrcise and nutrition. Inform and advise you on other related areas.

I don’t believe faddish diets sustain weight loss but healthy, nutritious food together with regular exercise will.

Often weight loss and fitness is not achieved until the mental blockages are addressed, Life coaching will help identify and break down these blocks to ensure you achieve your goals. Some areas to work on are your "inner critic and self-limiting beliefs".


I came to Julia feeling like everything was wrong with my life and I didn’t know where to start to fix it.  My weight was spiralling out of control, I was miserable at work and felt alone (even though I have a loving husband, great family and wonderful friends).

The first session we talked about my story and why I was there.  From that discussion Julia challenged me to focused on creating time for myself, and on my nutrition – I started keeping a food diary.  We kept talking about nutrition as we went through, but each session we continued to build on it to get to the underlying reasons why I was eating the way I was/feeling the way that I was.  The sessions were driven by me and what I wanted to talk about/cover, but at the same time Julia was able to ensure each session made me reflect and grow.

3 ½ months later I feel like a different woman.  I am 8kg lighter, I can run 12km (aiming for a half marathon) and have a much healthier relationship with food.  I still don’t know what I want my next career move to be, but I know that whatever it ends up being I won’t be taking a lot of the baggage with me.  I no longer feel like a victim and feel empowered at work, at home, and most importantly to put myself first.  Thank you Julia for everything! Melissa Clarkson June 2016

After a number of years away from competitive sport, I had a challenge maintaining a regular exercise programme.  Julia introduced me to a new range of exercises to improve my everyday fitness.  This has been much more interesting than the sport specific weight training I had previously done.  Years of working at a desk required a focus on improving my flexibility which has also been a great success.

Over the last two years, she has helped maintain my motivation by regularly introducing new exercises and tailoring sessions to match my energy levels.  Julia is also prepared to be straight up if my progress to my goals slips.  I look forward to continuing the partnership.
